The Fort Zumwalt School District offers several applied academic courses as part of the V-Tech Initiative. Applied courses are designed to provide the student with practical hands-on learning experiences which are directly related to the workplace. Courses offered include:
- Principles of Applied Algebra 1
- Principles of Applied Algebra 2
- Applied Biology/Chemistry 1
- Principles of Technology (Applied Physics)
- Applied Biology/Chemistry 2
These courses are year long and are worth 1 unit of respective science or mathematics credit. If a student chooses to apply these studies toward the 24 credits needed for a College Preparatory Certificate, the following rules apply:
- Principles of Applied Algebra 1 will earn 1 unit of college core curriculum credit; however, cannot be counted toward a college prep certificate..
- Applied Biology/Chemistry, which is offered for two years, may be counted as two units of a laboratory science.
- Principles of Technology (Applied Physics) may be counted as one unit of a laboratory science.
