Welcome to Progress South! At our school, you will find the entire learning community intent on producing productive citizens in a nurturing environment. The staff is dedicated to making each child feel that they are important both as an individual and as a member of their class. Expectations for achievement and conduct are held high and students respond positively to these demands. Learning environments are focused and productive while still being comfortable places to learn.
Parents appreciate the strong lines of communication that exist between classroom and home. Teachers send home weekly newsletters and keep parents informed regarding curriculum, grade level goals, and classroom events. We have a very strong P.T.A. and many volunteers helping in our efforts.
While we appear large in size, with over 900 students, the building design creates neighborhoods within each pod. This allows teachers to maintain a closed classroom or open into the common area that connects approximately every ten classrooms. It is a warm and purposeful place at Progress South. We hope you can see that reflected in our website.

Ongoing Events
In Physical Education classes at Progress south, we promote physical fitness by developing physical skills, a positive attitude to participate and to be safe.
On the elementary level we emphasize the following:
The older students (grades 3 through 5) participate in "JUMP FOR HEART". They earn money, from pledges, by jumping rope. The proceeds go to the American Heart Association. This is not only done for a good cause, but the students have great fun jumping!
The students take physical tests in the fall and spring. The result gives some idea to the parents the physical fitness level of their child. In addition to these, individual awards may be earned.

Robin Pranga
Library Media Specialist
The Library Media Center is the hub of Progress South for the students, teachers and parents. Each class, with the exception of Kindergarten, is scheduled for 25 minutes a week in the library. Individual check-out time is encouraged as well as class research projects.
The Librarian follows and uses an approved new curriculum. Reading is encouraged through "Climb into Reading" and "Read to Succeed" (6 Flags).
BULLY-FREE PROGRAM
Students will learn the signs of a bully
and what they should do if
someone is bullying them. Students will also be held accountable if
they are bullying someone. All of the classes will work to be bully-free
every single day.
