As a member of the pack:

On behalf of the faculty and staff, I would like to welcome you and thank you
for joining us on our website.
Mid Rivers Elementary is an exciting place for your child to learn and grow. I am fortunate to have the privilege of working with a dedicated and hard working staff of teachers and support personnel who share the common goal in making your child’s education the very best possible. Our school programs focus on providing students with experiences and challenges to help them grow both academically and socially. Before and after school clubs, school-wide service projects, assemblies, and special activities provide students with valuable learning opportunities outside of the classroom to help them develop and feel successful in the school setting.
As parents, you have been actively involved in your child’s education by attending school-wide activities, programs, field trips, helping in the classrooms, supporting our PTO sponsored events, participating in the “Adopt-A-Book” program, fundraisers and volunteering in so many ways. You have set high expectations for your children both academically and behaviorally. We appreciate the ongoing support and involvement you have in your child’s education.
Our school goals focus on providing all students with learning opportunities that will prepare them to be productive citizens. As our home-school partnership continues to grow, our goal is to continue to strengthen our communication and relationship with you.
As a staff, we have established the following goals for our school community.
· Mid Rivers will have a positive and caring learning environment.
· Students, staff and parents feel safe and comfortable.
· High expectations for academics, behavior and social growth have been
established in all aspects of learning.
· A feeling of mutual respect is evident between students, staff and
parents.
· Each child is challenged to his or her fullest potential.
Working together, we are making a difference with our students. If I can be of any assistance, please feel free to contact me at 278-2168. Again, thank you for being a special person in your child’s life and their education.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Carol A. Ransom
Principal

The purpose of the Mid Rivers Elementary PTO is to aid the students by providing support for their social, moral, educational and recreational needs and to promote open communication between the administration, teachers and parents. This purpose is met through the efforts and support of the parents, families and teachers who are committed to enhancing the learning experience of our children.
There are many exciting activities and events planned throughout the year and our goal is to have all parents involved. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join the PTO. Membership is only $5.00 per family. Activities are scheduled throughout the school year and we would love to see all our parents, grandparents and families at each event. Specific information on events and activities will be in the monthly principal newsletters and the PTO newsletters as well as various flyers that detail the events.
Our entire budget comes from fundraising events that are held throughout the year. All proceeds go right back into Mid Rivers Elementary student activities and teacher and classroom support. Through fundraising efforts, the PTO is able to provide Mid Rivers Elementary with items the school would otherwise have to do without. Playground and classroom equipment, library books, grade level activities, yearly reading program incentives and club activities are just a few of the items that the PTO budget provides to Mid Rivers Elementary.
The PTO is a great place to get connected with other parents and stay informed
as to what is happening not only within the school but also the school district.
The PTO meets the second Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the school library.
We would like to extend an invitation to all interested parents to join us to
make Mid Rivers Elementary the best it can be by making a positive impact on
the educational lives of all the students.

ART Program…The mission of the Mid Rivers Visual Arts Program is to offer every student the opportunity to understand the facets of art by creating, communicating, and realizing the importance of art in history and culture.
The visual arts develop perception and imagination, while contributing to creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, and other learning skills. Art forms a basis for understanding the world's culture and history.
"Every artist was first an amateur." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
Welcome to the Mid Rivers
P.E. Program
Creating a positive, physical fitness environment is so important to our overall Physical Education Program at Mid Rivers Elementary. We strive to teach not only fitness and skill development, but good sportsmanship and safety in all we do. Our goal is to develop healthy lifetime habits that will carry our students into successful, productive lives full of physical activity.
As we nurture each individual towards these goals, we also incorporate a healthy school community experience through extracurricular activities like the P.E. Club; The Scarecrow Scramble; Field Day; The Fine Arts & Health Fair Night; and Jump Rope for Heart. We look forward to influencing the lives of all who step foot into Mid Rivers Elementary with this positive fitness environment...including you!

Library Clerk
Librarians have one of the most wonderful jobs in the world—helping children find joy in reading! We do that through our story times on the primary level and by choosing some of the best in children’s literature for our intermediate readers. 1st – 5th grade classes visit the library once a week for 25 minutes. During that time each child has an opportunity to pick out a book or two of interest to them, and usually, a library location skill is taught or a story is read aloud. Our Kindergarten students begin learning about the library in October. Once a week they visit the library with their teachers for 15 minutes and have an opportunity to checkout books. Our children may return their books any day and choose others during our “extra checkout times”. Classes are also free to use the library for research or special projects.
We are always looking for ways to help our collection to grow. Our “Adopt-A-Book” program was implemented to help in this task. Parents may honor their child, relatives or friends for any occasion by purchasing a title from our “wish list”. This list contains favorite titles on many levels and subjects at a variety of prices. When the books arrive, a nameplate is placed inside the front cover, which indicates the name of the person donating the book, as well as the honoree.
“Look in a book and you will know
All things that can help you grow.”
Grow with your child – read together!!!
