Thank you for visiting Hawthorn Elementary School’s web page. I am proud to be a part of the Hawthorn community. The faculty and staff at Hawthorn are committed to providing a nurturing environment that promotes the success of each child. A sense of belonging and community can be felt as you walk through our doors.
Hawthorn is dedicated to the achievement of all students. We focus on differentiating instruction and building on the individual strengths of our students.
The hours for Hawthorn are changing this year by five minutes. The school day will begin at 8:55 and will end at 3:25. Students may begin arriving at 8:40 each morning. Please refer to the calendar and monthly newsletter for upcoming events and updates. I encourage you to be an active part in your child’s education. There are many opportunities to be involved with the school community.
I am looking forward to working with you each of you. Please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Kim McKinley, Principal
Don Bancroft, Administrative Assistant

We are always looking for new members and people to help on our committees. If you are interested in joining or helping, please contact Meredith Gnolfo through the school office. This past year, PTO purchased new playground equipment for our students. Please consider being a part of this fun and important group.

Physical Education/Health are the primary areas concerned with developing and maintaining student's optimal health, fitness, physical skills, and safety. We teach health concepts that promote an active and healthy balance between leisure and work, emphasizing the following:

The library at Hawthorn provides a place for students to explore the world. Through books, magazines, computers and more, children are encouraged to let their imaginations soar. Classes in grades one through five have a scheduled library class each week. Library skills are taught and materials are checked out during this time. The library is also open before and after school for children to check out materials. Each year the librarian sponsors two Scholastic Book Fairs. This is a great way to support our library and encourage your child to read!
